Wayfinding Icons

The International Space Station is a place where everyone can come and go to stay, refuel, and relax after traveling or to get ready for the journey. There are many different accommodations for each type of traveler we host. From the solo traveler to the big family, we have accommodations that range from Spacesuit Rental and Repair services to spacious sleeping accommodations and a state-of-the-art Med Bay. Take a trip to the International Space Station and stay for a while.

Moodboard and Mindmapping

For this project, I was tasked to created wayfinding icons for an International Space Station. In order to figure out how I would make these icons, I went through a whole brainstorming session trying to figure out what type of space station it would be and the sort of accommodations that would exist.

Sketches

This helped me with figuring out what I would want to have in terms of wayfinding. I started making sketches with that in mind. I ended up with Medical Bay, Spacesuit Rental and Repair, Hydroponics, Cafeteria, Entertainment, and Sleeping Accommodations.

Final ProDuct

When I went to the computer, I had to do a good bit of refinement with making sure that they belonged to each other. I refined the size, style, and colors so that they all belong to each other and didn’t stray from the group.
